"Dear Father, my death and the deaths of people I love are a mystery.
Although I may not give up searching out the mystery, I do not want to torture myself to know the unknowable.
You have penetrated and conquered it.
My hope is in you, I need no more.
Your saving grace is enough.
Thank you, through Christ my Lord, Amen."
My father, #thekid, wrote this during a very difficult time for him. He was dealing with the loss of a dear family member and caring for his wife, #missb, in hospice care.
He was also in very poor health at this time and was no doubt thinking about his own mortality.
His calmness and strength came from God during these difficult times. I consider it a huge blessing to have discovered this, his prayer for dealing with it. I hope that if you are dealing with the subject of death, that this will bring you some peace.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
